"As the Father has Loved Me, so have I loved you.
Abide in My Love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My Love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in His Love.
These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
“This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have Loved you. Greater Love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
You are My friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He may give it to you. These things I command you,
so that you will Love one another.”
-John 15.9-17 ♥"
Today, this hit me pretty hard.
Haven’t you ever just wondered why God Loves you?
Lately, I’ve been wondering that more than I ever have before.
I mean, He Loves YOU. YOU! Even though you’re so simple and defiant and entitled. You can’t do anything on your own. It’s obvious why we Love and need God, but why would the creator of the universe care at all about me? I suck.
By a lot of standards.
The ocean has so much more depth than me, meanwhile I can be shallow and empty. The flowers are lovely, meanwhile I’m painting up my face with makeup and altering my hair to be appealing. The birds can at least fly, meanwhile I’m barely a good runner!
I mean, of ALL of the things in the world that He could have picked to Love the most, it blows my mind that it was me.
Think about it. Why, of everything would He pick us?
It’s like Prince Charming choosing Cinderella. It’s like a billionaire falling head-over-heels for a poor, cultureless, uneducated woman from a small town. It’s like an entire army of soldiers fighting a bloody, horrible war for one common person.
The more I think about it the less it makes sense.
And yet He put it all on the line for me.
For me. For you.
When I read this passage today, it opened my eyes to something. He first Loved us (and that is one of the many reasons I Love Him) because He created us, knows us, has hopes for us, sees our potential, delights in our Love.
Though above all, I think one of the reasons He Loves us so much is to show us what Love really looks like.
He Loves us despite our appearance. He Loves us regardless of age. He Loves us without bringing up the past. He Loves us without caring how much money we’ve earned. He Loves without any bias of colour, background or gender. The list goes on and in Loving Him, He teaches us to Love others the same.
So even though there are thousands of tiny little reasons, He doesn’t need one to tell us why He Loves us.
He just does and He’s willing to show that every day.
That, my friends, is the best news I’ve ever received.
YOU ARE LOVED!
Let the Revival Begin.
